Biography
Mr Ravendra graduated from NUS in 1988 and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor at the Singapore bar in 1988. After admission, he joined the Ministry of Finance (Customs Department) and did Legal Advisory, Investigation, Enforcement and Documentation work. He also attended several overseas conferences and seminars on behalf of the Department, particularly Asia-Pacific and ASEAN countries on policy matters. After working for 7 years, he left and switched to legal Practice in 1998 and has been in active practice from 1998 till to-date doing matrimonial matters, commercial litigation and dispute resolution and with a focus on personal injury and vehicle damage claims some of which cases have been reported. He also represented a client on a criminal case which received widespread media attention.
Notable Cases
Utilx Corporation v Pan Ocean Transport Pte Ltd and others[2001] SGDC 367 – successfully claimed in an action under bailment against a Freight Forwarding Company.
Rabiah Bee bte Mohamed Ibrahim v Salem Ibrahim [2006] 2 SLR (R) 173 – whether there was a breach of Director’s fiduciary duties and the need for disclosure.
K9 Services Pte Ltd v Ghislain Nevil Chimon [2020] SGMC 23 – hearing on point of law- whether there is break in chain of causation in a motor vehicle accident – whether defence of new act of intervention negates the chain of causation – whether plaintiff was contributorily negligent.
Ong Boon Tin Mrs Moh-Ong Boon Tin v Bernard Wu Kweng Mun [2021] SGMC 47 – point of law on measure of damages for vehicle involved in an accident-whether owner entitled to repair the vehicle when it is due for expiry of COE and claim for repair cost-whether need to mitigate damages.
